About the Artist

Originally from Montreal, I was first introduced to ceramics in 1977 at St. Lawrence College of Applied Art and Technology while working on a graphic arts diploma.  Following a short pottery apprenticeship in southern France I moved to British Columbia and eventually found “home” in the Kootenays in 1990. My appreciation and love of pottery has always been there, surfacing as time permitted, while I worked as an Environmental Health Officer in Nelson. I attended KSA ceramics program in 2014-15 and I have been blessed to be able to follow my passion potting full time in my beautiful home studio in Harrop since.  Working mainly with mid-range stoneware I strive to give my work depth by layering several glazes, using an electric kiln programmed with a slow cool cycle, which allows small crystals to develop. I love to experiment and almost every kiln load will have some new glaze or technique so that the excitement of opening the kiln is palpable.
